Long Distance Service

Your long distance charges will appear on a separate page within your BellSouth bill or on a separate bill. If you need to discuss any portion of your long distance bill, contact your long distance provider. Your provider's number is located at the top of the Long Distance page.

If you prefer a separate bill from your long distance company, contact them to determine if a separate bill is an option. If a separate bill is possible, your long distance company will handle the change in billing.

Q: How do I change my long distance company? Is there a charge associated with this change?
A: To change your long distance company, you need only to contact your long distance company directly. For a complete list of long distance companies in your area, contact your BellSouth specialist. And, yes, a per line charge applies when you change long distance companies. These charges are billed on your BellSouth bill.

Q: How can I find out about long distance rates and the time of day for the lowest discount rate?
A: For BellSouth long distance rates, please contact your BellSouth specialist. For other long distance company rate information, contact that long distance company.

Q: How can I request to have my long distance charges and local charges print on separate pages?
A: If you place a call using a 5 digit dialing code provided by a long distance company that is not your preferred long distance company (instead of dialing 1+ or 0+ with your preferred long distance company), that call will be billed on a separate page. Collect calls will also be billed separately if the "called from" number has a long distance company which is different from your long distance company.

For more information on 5 digit dialing codes, contact your long distance company.

Q: Is there a way to restrict my business telephone line(s) from dialing certain types of long distance calls?
A: Yes. BellSouth offers Customized Call Restrictions which provide a variety of options restricting chargeable outgoing direct dial or operator-assistedcalls.

Q: How can I keep my long distance company from changing without my knowledge?
A: Call your BellSouth specialist to "freeze" your long distance company. A "freeze" enables only you or your authorized representative to change your long distance company.
